I did this for my daughters three year old portrait. I would love to get some critique on this from you fine folks.

Savone-
Interesting concept. However:
- she seems to be floating on the blue background
- hot spots on each side of her face
- underexposed legs
- could've straightened out the dress a little bit.
I assumed you care more about my comments than getting a "great shot" comment without any explanations on why it is such a great shot.
Thanks for the invite on myspace btw

Agree with the above, but about the dress-she's three! She's supposed to be disheveled! :)

All commercial shots with 3 year-old girls/boys are well set-up...it depends what you are trying to achieve...

I agree with all your comments, but since she is my daughter she feels very comfortable in my little studio. That means she wont sit still for a damn second! :)
She moved so much that she walked right up into the lights, thats why the hot spots on the face and underexposed legs.
BTW, I do appreciate your comments ALOT more than just a GREAT SHOT comment.

I like the over all portrait. The underexposed legs are minor...the focal point of this is the face. The hot spots are definitely something that needs to be corrected in a second try.
Even thou a 3 year old is disheveled, one key to being a sucessful professional in this industry is attention to DETAIL, DETAIL, DETAIL. Correct that little ruffle in the dress. It isn't that it is wrong, it is just distracting.
What are you using as far as lights and modifiers? (Softboxes or Umbrellas etc.)

I agree with everyone about the highlights but aren't to the point where they are blown out. so it's something that can be fixed pretty easily with some simple burning. and yes the skirt too.

My intention was for you to see some details and maybe one day redo the shot correcting those details that escaped the first time around.
CJ is right. The attention to details is what will differentiate yourself from the amateurs...and I am not using amateurs in a demeaning manner.

the number 3 seems to dark for the image....
