I like the sharp/soft contrast. Cropping off the stem weighted the photo bottom very nicely.

In one of Ansel Adam's books he makes the case that in nearly all black and white images we want to find something that is pure white and something pure black. There are, of course, exceptions but I wonder if this is one of them. I suspect a bit more contrast, pushing the lightest areas to pure white and the darkest to solid black would improve what is already an excellent composition.
