View Full Version : Heron
This was shot 2 days ago at sunrise. I had the lens wide open and the belly and feathers are kind of soft from hand holding a 300m at 25F. And I have more excuses for my work if you want them. LOL

Looking good... One question, what do you mean by 300mm at 25F ??
I want to add that this is great composition, I like how the bird is on the bottom right looking into the frame!

I agree, very nice photo and good composition. The watermark looks better here also! :)

LOL. Oops sorry, 25 degress Farenheit, forgot I was on a photo site.
And I lied, it was not wide open, which is 5.6 at 300. Shot was 1250, 300mm, f6.3 at 1/125.
300mm handheld at 1/125 in the freezing cold. I should have stopped right there and said; "Is this likely to have a good outcome?" :D

It did have a good outcome, 1/125 is a little slow for 300mm but it seems to have worked well for you.
You could have dropped down to 5.6 and boosted to 1/250th, which would have helped a little with the shutter speed and kept the same exposure.
