UPDATE to this thread: http://focusfaction.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233

OK, I got home kind of late but I wanted to play for about 20 minutes so here goes:

Lens is pretty clean:

First thing... I NEVER HEARD A LENS THIS LOUD. I almost woke my daughter up from the basement! The sound reminds me of the little servo's from remote control cars. I thought it was broke at first! :)

First test shots are with these rude teddy bears.
I started collecting these bears that all have something rude about them. I have one in a leather outfit with chaps and his ass hanging out. One with a vibrator, one with a crack pipe, and the pop smoker bear. I heard there are a whole collection (like 30) but I cant find anymore. If anyone knows were to get the complete set let me know.

Here is a shot at f/2
It is a little soft, but this was handheld about 12 inches from the bear. So with the really shallow DOF I may have moved a hair. He feet look sharp here. Or the lens can be front focusing a bit?? Anyway the bokeh looks nice and smooth.

So I have to say I am quite pleased with my $10 purchase. I am going to use it for thanksgiving pictures tomorrow just to play some more. Should be a fun lens and you can never have enough primes!

Yes (i'm going to try to explain it in simple terms)
The larger the # for your aperture setting the more the things in the pictures become focused, also the larger the aperture number the darker the photo will be. :)

That's why at f/2 you had only his feet in focus and the picture is bright. And at f/6.3 the whole bear is in focus and the picture is darker.

At f/2 you have to position yourself to get the focus where you want it.

LOL when I read this I seriously laughed out loud! :) :)

I know it's just a test and you are not looking for a critique but I think the one at f/5 and f/6.3 are the best :)

Thanks for posting the pics of the bears :) It's a good example though of how the aperture numbers affect the picture.

I learnt this myself through trial and error, and it's great to see that I was on the right track...
