Needed to do a quick self portrait for a project.
Here it is :D
It's kinda messed up cuz my belly is in a huge black shadow. I suppose I could fix it but meh... pic is good enough for me
:)
EDIT: I know people will complain so I fixed it alittle bit.
I still prefer the first one.

The first is too dark, and the second makes the front of your shirt look dirty. I think you should have ditched the hood to show off the glass and not make it look so shadowed, and worn a lighter shirt, although the stripes are nice. I also would have trimmed up those stray hairs on top of your head, just to neaten things up a bit.
I'll tell you more as I think of it. ^_^

I wouldnt try to pull too much detail out of the shirt, it brings out too much noise! I kind of like the first one, it has mood and pizazz. :) Although maybe overdone on the skin smoothing.

Trimmed hair, Lightened shirt (no noise), lessened the skin smoothing.
The only thing I couldnt do is pull out the glass from the shadow. I could take another pic of the lens and photoshop it in there though!! :)
I think that pretty much covers everything except for the lens not being visible.. :(
If you guys can think of any other critiques let me know.
Is the blue background ok or should I put a different color??

My only problem with the hood is that someone might not even know what it is. If the hood weren't there, you'd see the glass, as well as your other finger on the shutter. It would just be more interesting. The last is much better. I kinda like the blue, and I played with it myself in cs2, but couldn't get another hue I liked more.

I think it's fantastic, the softness of the image and the striking background work well. It's a brilliant portrait, I certainly need to pratice to get an image this crisp.
I also envy your camera :)

It is a great photo, I wish I could get one this good of someone else let alone myself. :)
How did you do this? Did you shoot into a mirror? Also do you have a background light behind your back??

Thanks! If you have any questions feel free to ask, if I can't answer I'm sure someone else here knows the answer!

That is the look I was going for! I was hoping someone would think I was shooting into a mirror! Actually I have 2 bodies. One in my hand and one on a tripod hooked up to 2 alienbees strobes.
That's why you can read Canon and 30D correctly and not backwards. :D
The camera on the tripod I was using a cable release + self timer. Why cable release and self timer? I used the cable release to set the auto focus, then when I hear the beep (autofocus set) I press down on the trigger then let go of the cable release, wait a few seconds and the camera fires! Simple!
The background? It's not really blue. Actually it is white but I completely took the background out of the photo and replaced it with a solid blue layer, then I used the dodge tool to get the light blue in there around me to give the appearance of another light behind me! :D
I'm sneaky :D
