My father in law and I were chatting about photography and turns out that he's got a bit of equipment (you know.. few cameras, tripod, lenses, filters etc)... he got really excited and brought it all out and said I could have it... this is what I scored:

Canon camera (EOS650) and lense (to 80mm), separate flash (300EZ), about 10 rolls of 400 film, batteries and cases...

here's the funny bit...

there was this macro lense in there ... can't remember what brand off the top of my head... but after a bit of searching, turns out it's for this really old camera... like one of the very first SLRs... oh what a treat hey. I think it was a Hanimex brand?.. it's got filters, cables, light meter, and all sorts of goodies with it. Must have cost a bomb 25 years ago when he bought it...He was so excited thinking that now I could be a professional ... I didn't have the heart to tell him that I already have 5 cameras at home... and really don't get to use them all as it is... now I have two more! lol

but I think I might actually give the old one a go... even if it doesn't work... or turns out crap pic. Will be interesting to see the difference to todays...

Great idea! Great minds think alike, I was thinking the same thing! But then also make a sepia version of that photo too, that would be cool.

The instruction manual for the camera is here: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/canon/canon_620-650/canon_eos_620-650-3.htm

Funny enough the same information is on my new camera almost as well! They must have just stuck with what works :)
