As a subcontracted photographer, i could get in a lil bit of trouble for posting these.
Funny how usually there's a bridesmaid better looking than the bride.
Here's a series from a recent wedding.
I think this guy was wise to my demise...

I was just shooting alongside the seemingly inept wedding photographer that my buddy hired for his wedding. She got in the way sometimes but I'm over it.

Hey do you know who the photog was? I'm curious. This couple looks familiar.

Just a quick comment on this. Your buddy probably had good reason for hiring the photographer. Have you seen the photos from his wedding yet? Most often times, well-meaning friends and family are the hinderance and the inept, preventing a professional from doing their job.
Not raggin on ya. Just pointing out that you have to consider professional courtesy in a situation like this and not hinder the photographer hired to do the job.
I don't mind friends/family shooting at weddings/receptions...excluding my formal posed work. I consult with the B&G prior to the day and make sure they understand, when I am doing my formal work, posed stuff that will be utilized in the album, NO family/friends and cameras shooting behind or aside me, as that will only serve to prevent me from getting the shoots they hired me to.
To make this point more obvious, look at your photo posted. While nice, it would have been even better had the B&G been looking at your camera. If you are diverting the attention of the B&G or others in the photo while the hired photographer is working, you are only hindering their ability to produce the images that they paid for.
Again, this is just a heads up. Not a rag. I KNOW there are inept photogs out there, unfortunately. Your comment about the hired photog deosn't seemed to be based on the fact that you saw the images and they were bad, but on a personal observation and you have no idea if the B&G were satisfied.

Yea I hate it when people screw up my shots at weddings because they think they're better than me... And videographers are the worst.....
At my last wedding the priest was awesome, before the wedding started he made an announcement to the guest telling them not to jump into the isle as the people are coming down because they will be blocking the pro's shots. That was the coolest thing, and the videographer and I didn't even ask him to say anything. :)

I've had guests show up at weddings with cameras better than mine. I'm confident enough in my ability to capture a wedding, however, that I find it funny when someone shows up with a D200 or a 1DS Mark II. Heck, I know wedding photographers pulling down six-figure incomes using Fuji S2s and Canon 10Ds. Equipment does not matter. Attitude matters.
My wedding contract contains a lot of points, but here are two of them. First and foremost is that my company will be the sole professional still photographer at a wedding hired by the bride and groom. If the videographer pops out a D-SLR and starts shooting, I put the kibosh on that in a BIG hurry. If another person shows up with pro kit, then I have a chat with that person and make sure that person understands that the B&G have paid me a lot of money to shoot their day and that they are not to get in front of me.
The second point is that I cannot guarantee any specific shots. This means that if some yahoo pops up in front of me when the officiant says "You may now kiss the bride" and ruins my shot, there's not a lot I can do about it (except try to restage it if possible, and that's really rare). However, if a guest KEEPS getting in my way, I will quietly have a chat with that guest and ask him to quit. Failing that, I mention it to the groom or best man and have him put a stop to it.
I don't mind guests with cameras; in fact, I've actually hired second shooters whom I've met at weddings and started chatting with. I don't even have a problem with people shooting my formal stuff (I don't allow guests around when I'm doing private B&G stuff though). I take my job as a wedding photographer very seriously, and nothing pisses me off more than a tenacious guest with a camera who thinks he's more important than I am with regards to the photographs, because I am all about the bride and the groom, who are what the wedding is all about.
If that makes any sense. :) This is why I asked who the photog was; I might know her.

I think we're more referring to the kids with DSLR's who think that they were hired to shoot the wedding and jump infront of us all the time as were trying to shoot important events and family wedding portraits. I definately don't mind the people with thier little SLR's and Camera phones at all. Actually I get alot of cool pictures of these people taking pics. I even got a good one somewhere from their perspective. (I shot from behind their camera). And the resulting photo was 1/2 frame = Point and shoot and picture inside LCD screen and the other half was the actual group of people posing for the person with the point and shot camera. Hard to describe, I'll see if I can find it later.

She was a person in Bad Axe, Michigan out in the sticks. The bride grew up there and they got the place and the photographer for free. She had people running all over the place and was not in control of the shoot. Her shots were okay, but she didn't even know what kind of a camera I was using!! Thanks for the critique though!

Well I guess that the adage still rings true -- you get what you pay for, huh. :)

What a unique and classy way to photograph the happy couple. I love the texture and love the white light around the couple contrasting the warm hues of the sunset.
Awesome shot !

Had to share another bride, from yesterday. Straight out of the camera, only resizing and added the border.
Which, of course, means I haven't color-corrected them or anything yet.

This one the vignetting is a little too heavy for my taste -- too close to her face. Good pose, great b&w conversion, but lost the vignetting and I think you'll have a real winner here.
