Are there tutorials for Elements itself? Or is it close enough to PS to follow some of those tutorials?

I have never used Elements but I would be interested in knowing this as well. A lot of people ask me questions and I can not help them because they do not have PS.

I would think there are alot of people with Elements since it comes bundled with Canon cameras. Probably Nikon and the others too. My work is not so critical as to spend the big bucks for a full PS.

I suspect Elements is alot more powerful than I know. For instance I would like to make a couple of my pics with selective color, but have no idea where to start. The help files are way too confusing.
