Thread: Looking to Upgrade

  1. Looking to Upgrade

Anyways as you can see from the title I am looking to upgrade my old
SLR (Nikon EM). I am looking for a new Digital SLR to replace it.

Price wise I am willing to spend 500 to 1100 US on a new camera.
I was hoping I some people can suggest anything for me.

By the way it will mosly be used for regular everyday shooting and family events

    Thanks in advance

  2. Well, I don't have much experience with Nikon, but I hear the D40X is a great camera for the money.

If you could switch to Canon, I would recomend the Rebel XTi. I used to have the Rebel XT, and it was a GREAT Camera. I upgraded to the Canon 40D. If you are not looking to be a "Professional", then the rebel series is a great compact, easy to use, high quality solution. They are much lighter and smaller than the "Prosumer series". (10D, 20D, 30D, & 40D) and are VERY Capable.

  3. Missi, D200.. try it... it should be going cheap soon since the D3 and D300 is just around the corner.

Have a look at the Nikon D80. B&H has the body only at $875US or as a kit with the 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 at $1,200US.

  5. Give us an idea of your budget, it would be a lot easier to give advice that way. Also are you looking to stay with Nikon? I don't know much about Nikon, would your old lenses work on the new digital bodies?
