  1. SB-400 on a Nikon Coolpix p5000

    hi everyone

i recently got a sb-400 flash for my camera and i noticed that it has a bigger range then the built in flash. I was wondering if there is a way to improve the dispersion(diffusion) of the light so it is a little more natural. I have seen people attach homemade attachments to create this affect but I find most solutions end up adding more unecessary weight to the camera

  3. Most external flash units have a light sensor on them to adjust the amount of light it needs to produce optimum results. If you alter the flash output won't that give the sensor a false reading?

  4. What the camera thinks is optimum and what a photographer thinks is optimum are two different things. Cameras do pretty well in approximating how much flash will be needed.

Using some kind of diffuser is a good idea when shooting with on-camera flash.

Here are some fun ideas to make home made diffusers.
