    Vintage

    This is my buddy Jerry's bike, its a '58 panhead. We were passing this train so we stopped...all I had was my phone, but it came out pretty good. What do you think?

    I don't know anything about bikes, but how can you tell the difference?
    And what's sport tail, soft tail etc.?

    the actual head itself, at the top of the motor, is from a shovelhead...the design, especially with the two bolts showing (They are much larger on the "knucklehead") and the panheads, literally had a pan shaped cover at the top.

    also have to check, but I don't think shovels were around until the 60's, but so many engines have been modified, could be a panhead with actual shovel heads...I've also seen Pan/Knuckles and Pan/Shovels. Bikers are an inventive lot...
