  1. Lady Liberty in Light

    Lady Liberty in Light...

Image of the Twin Tower memorial light beams. Initially, standing across the harbor, I couldn't get the lights to align with the statue. The lights were behind her and it looked somewhat impersonal, so I did what any resourceful photographer would do, I crawled through the fence of some industrial complex, and walked along the rocky shore until I had the composition I was after. I set up my tripod, shot it with a Nikon N90s and a 300mm 2.8 Nikkor lens with a 2x converter, making a 600mm 5.6. Although, I think the actual f-stop was 11...but I didn't record it.
    Shot with Fujichrome Provia 100f

Sometimes you have to fracture a rule or two to get a more meaningful shot...

  3. Wow, very nice! I have been looking at the 2x tele converter to get far without going broke.

  5. Can get a very similar very close up angle from LSP (liberty state park).
And ya won't have to worry about crawling under fences ect.

  6. Actually, I started out at Liberty, but as I said, the lights were behind the statue, and looked very impersonal. All of the images appearing in the dailys during the memorial all had that angle. Just didn't look right to me...so kept working my way along until I reached an area where the composition pleased me. Besides, crawling around to get a shot is hardly a worry. I'm the type that will fly to Beijing just to get good Chinese food...any effort to achieve something is worth it.

    No guts, no glory, yes?

If I ever see ya down at the park, I'll buy ya a beer. (or take ya out for Chinese??)

I think only the moderators can view attachments as the rest of can never view attachments.
Any help here guys would be beneficial because hearing about a nice picture but continuing to get errors when viewing attachments is getting frustrating!
