Gaillardia wildflowers
These wildflowers are known by different names throughout the world. I took this picture at the Myrtle Beach State Park where they bloom profusely from spring until (and if) we get a frost.
C&C always welcome.

Yeah, we call them "blanket flowers" where I live, and yes, they grow in great profusion along the roadsides here. One evening I was driving home and noticed a patch where a shaft of light was streaming through the oak trees and lighting a patch of these flowers. I pulled over and got some great shots juxtaposing the lighted flowers against the darker shade. Got some good shots out of that.
Your shot is compositionally very simple...but it works. Sort of like saying, "Here are some beautiful flowers along the road; nothing less, nothing more" and, fortunately for you, the flowers are pretty enough to carry the day. What I wonder is if you have some photo-processing software like Photoshop or Elements? I you do, I would spend some time adjusting the Lightness/Darkness. I think darkening the image a bit would keep the whites from blowing out and add some drama to the feeling. Give it a try.

Another issue would be that there is no main focus point. Did you do some HDR work on this? It has that painted feel to it like the Ice Cream ones

Thanks for looking and commenting, Fibonacci and Richard. I appreciate you both taking time to respond. No, this photo was not post-processed, except for sharpening and levels. I probably brightened it a little too much. I used photoshop CS 3. Last week I got a new computer and upgraded to CS 4, so I have lots of learning to do! Thanks gain.
