Thread: Canon EOS 1V or EOS 3?

  1. Canon EOS 1V or EOS 3?

well I'm actually looking for the 1V... does anyone know where i could find one at a good price? for a new one, it cost about $1,700 and being a college student and all, i definitely can't afford that :-( but i really want that camera lol. i know i could find the EOS 3 pretty cheap used but ppl keep saying that it's not that great of a camera... which i wouldn't understand why being it's one of Canon's top 35mm cameras... i dunno, if anyone knows anything about Canon systems, please help me out :-(

  2. Vic,

I know the Canon line. What are you planning to do with your camera? And why 35mm? Prices the way they are, there are alot of really good medium format film cameras on the market at reasonable prices.

Don't know about where you are, but we have a couple of stores here that handle used film equipment and are really reliable.

Post a little more about intended use and that may help get you some information.

P.S. The differences in the two camera bodies you asked about are 1V has high speed (Continuous up to 10 Frames/Second) - EOS 3 only 7 Frames; 1V expanded viewfinder and LCD Info over the EOS 3; and the 1V has a significately heavier build about it. Weights more and can take more punishment. Other than that, the cameras are laid out very similar in function and features. Either camera is worth the investment, especially if you already have the Canon Glass.

well i know i wont really need to high speed, but i do like that fact that has a much heavier build. i mostly want it to upgrade my current film camera. i'm shooting with an Rebel GII which only has a 3 point AF which makes using my AF worthless so i do just about everything on MF but sometimes that can be a pain too. most of the other reasons are just personal ones like i don't like a plastic body and how small it is... lol i dunno i would like to get a medium formate but buying that along with the film that goes with it, i definitely can't afford with my job lol i wish i could.

  10. Before I went to my local camera shop, I would look at www.keh.com and check their used department. Their used stuff is great -- get anything in EX condition or above and you won't be disappointed. I've bought a lot of used and new gear from them, including L lenses and camera bodies. No trouble whatever. they have an EOS-3 body in their list right now for $415 and a 1V body with power booster for $849
