Although there is nothing like owning a 1-series body, for the work that you do, I think the 5D would more logical. I really don't see you needing the AF spee of FPS of the 1D compared to what the 5D.
Like you, I have been contemplating on upgrading my 20D to getting a 5D, but bills most certainly come first. Especially since I want to move soon and take a vacation.
